Making a difference
Barnet Young Carers extraordinary outcomes reflect the ambition and dedication of its team. Despite the financial challenges that charity organisations such as us face to sustain projects and initiatives long term, with this report we celebrate the achievements of consolidating a service whereby young carers are valued and encouraged, where they can find pride in what they do and inspiration to overcome barriers and develop. A service where they can choose and engage.
Barnet Young Carers have grown to become an expanded service central to what young carers have said they want and need. Their emotional and mental wellbeing, educational support and socialization are the pillars of our programme. Identifying, supporting, celebrating and raising the profile of young carers has been and remains our aim; and we have demonstrating it with the work we have done and achieved.
What comes next is even more exciting! In Barnet we Think Young Carer and it is our goal to make every school, college and university not only Young Carer aware but a local ally and supporter of our mission of enabling young carers to thrive. We will continue to campaign for more Young Carers Leads to be assigned in each institution with whom we will work to make every setting the best place it can be for young carers to be, learn and grow.
