Mentoring Programme - Parental Agreement to be completed by a Parent or Guardian of a Young Carer Mentoring - Parental Agreement "*" indicates required fields Dear Parent or Guardian, We are pleased to offer high-quality mentoring support to your child. As part of our mentoring programme, children and young people are paired with a qualified and experienced mentor who will provide guidance, support, and encouragement for them to set and achieve individual goals in support of their personal, social, and academic development. Barnet Young Carers ensures that its mentors undergone a rigorous recruitment and selection process; receive relevant training and are DBS screened before they are involved in the delivery of mentoring support. What is mentoring? Can be one-to-one engagement between the learner (the mentee) and a more experienced individual (the mentor) who shares knowledge and guidance around a specific need. This can also happen in group sessions. Supporting your child through mentoring will help your child to grow more confident and address challenges they may be experiencing. How this works? Mentors and mentees are matched based on shared interests and availability. Mentors will meet their allocated mentees at their school venues or online via Zoom and offered eight weekly personalised mentoring sessions on dates and times agreed with you. There may also be the opportunity to take part in group sessions. To ensure that your child can participate in this programme, we need your permission. Please read through the following information carefully and return the completed agreement form at your earliest convenience. Failure to return the completed permission form, will result in your child not being able to start mentoring and their place being allocated to the next child in our waiting list. By completing this form, you are agreeing to allow your child to participate in our mentoring programme. You understand that this programme is voluntary and that your child may withdraw at any time. You also understand that information shared between your child and their mentor will be kept confidential unless there is a threat of harm to your child or others. Thank you for your support.
