Having some fun

making friends and enjoying yourself

For some young carers, getting out and about with friends isn’t always an option due other priorities – so it is our job to make sure that they do. Our team hosts a whole range of activities including monthly youth clubs and a monthly meet-up over at Unitas. These groups offer a range of exciting opportunities including: dance and drama, music, sports, photography, videography and more.

We even have a mini-bus available to pick you up locally to ensure you don’t miss out!

For those who may want to try things outside of Barnet Young Carers, then that’s not a problem. We work in partnership with a number of organisations around the borough that offer a range of activities to young people. Our service is catered to each individual need – so if you have a particular interest, we can find local groups that offer these hobbies, and work with them to make sure get involved. This could be links into local football clubs, girls’ groups, creative clubs, self-defence, music production, the list goes on…

We also try our best to make sure your school holidays are filled with opportunity. We aim to organise trips such as go-karting, ice-skating, rock-climbing, cinema. As well as helping you access holiday programmes and play schemes suitable to your needs and age range.

And of course that’s not all. Your views are our number one priority, so if there is something in particular that you and other young carers would like us to deliver, we will try our best to do so. We aim to offer events tailored to all age ranges, interests and diverse backgrounds. We try to celebrate these diversities and achievements at our youth clubs by offering out a Jack Petchey Award.  All winners will be awarded with funding that can go towards an activity of choice or piece of equipment for all of their fellow peers at Barnet Young Carers.
